Lighting Our Path

As we begin the new year, many of us have resolved to make a real effort to be more like Jesus. That means reading the Bible more, witnessing more, and looking for the goodness of God in everything.

I think it helps to heed the words of Jesus in Revelation 3:20:
Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear My voice, and I open the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with Me.

Several years ago a Pastor was visiting and talking with artist Warner Sallman who painted the famous, most remembered "Head of Christ" portrait. Mr Sallman is also the creator of another equally gripping illustration, "Christ Knocking At The Door." Most people viewing this picture have noticed that there is no knob on the outside of the door. It must be opened by someone on the inside. However, the visiting Pastor also noticed something else: Christ had no lantern in the darkness of the night scene. He asked Mr. Sallman why.

His simple answer was that he... "didn't think Christ needed one. After all He is the Light of The World."

If you know Christ as your Savior and have resolved to be more like Him in 2010, you have enough light for any contingency, any situation. His light will never fail. He will show you how to be more like Him.

Let's pray this simple prayer in 2010: "Thank you God for being the light on my path."

May you be blessed in 2010!
